LA About Town: A Painting Workshop with Christabel Blackburn

A celebration of colour and craftsmanship on the launch of our Juicy Basket Collection

We invited friends, old and new, to join us for breakfast and a little colour and creativity with one of our favourite artists, Christabel Blackburn...

To mark the launch of our new Juicy Basket Collection, we wanted to do something a bit special. Late Afternoon turns 4 next week, and we had been yearning to host a little get-together.

So we called on two friends - both wonderful artists - to come together with us to throw a little breakfast painting workshop for some friends, old and new.

The workshop was taught by Christabel Blackburn, who is astonishingly clever with colour, which she uses to great effect to create her distinctive works that play with her observations on figures in architecture.

And we were lucky enough to be hosted in the studio of Isabella Watling, an incredible, prize-winning portrait artist, who generously gave us the run of her iconic studio on Talgarth Road.

These Victorian, purpose-built artists' studios are still used by a community of artists.

Sketching, painting and chatting...

As firm believers in the restorative power of both sitting down to a creative project and a good old chat with your friends, the morning was positively therapeutic.

But first, breakfast?
